πŸ—’οΈ Introduction

PaySimple’s shift in business goals in 2023 required a new user-flow, combined with the outdated Craft CMS, which presented security risks and operational challenges. The strategic decision to re-platform to WordPress aimed to enhance security, streamline operations, and leverage team familiarity.

With an emphasis on the B2B users, I’ve redesigned the homepage and restructured the site map to better attend to the new audience. In conjunction with the Senior Web Developer, we decided to re-platform the site after the redesign. Given the time constraints and the development challenges of using Craft CMS, we decided to tackle the redesign first then the re-platforming.

πŸ”₯ Problem Statement

New business goals required a new user-flow. Outdated Craft CMS posed security risks, and upgrading was impractical. Migrating to WordPress addressed the need for heightened security and a more user-friendly and familiar platform for other company colleagues.

πŸ“Š Research and Discovery

Pagespeed, Crazy Frog, and Google Analytics provided critical insights into pages, user flows, and site performance. Data-driven analysis guided decision-making for the re-platforming process. As well as internal discussions with key stakeholders.

πŸ› οΈ Development and Planning

Intensive DevOps and Dev Planning efforts included detailed reports on the current site, comprising over 2000 page URLs, which I restructured into new sections and user-flow to attend to the new business needs.

Using Figma and Adobe Photoshop I designed a new homepage, based on content provided by the marketing team, and worked on refining some of the current PaySimple website pages.

WordPress templates were developed using Sass and Sage, in conjunction with Senior Web Developer, since it was my first time working with the framework.

πŸ‘¨β€πŸ”¬ User Testing and Feedback

A hypercare period allowed users to report issues, ensuring a responsive problem-solving approach. Extensive testing, pre and post-build, resulted in a smooth transition. Pagespeed testing showed significant performance improvement, confirming migration success. As well as a better experience for the users.

πŸš€ Final Product

We presented the business with a new and streamlined homepage with an emphasis on our B2B users. WordPress migration transformed PaySimple’s digital presence, offering improved employee experiences, reduced training times, faster loading speeds, enhanced performance, and fortified security.

I’ve designed a better and more streamlined navigation for the website.
I’ve created new images and assets for the homepage to bring more of the brand’s look and feel and to also demonstrate what the experience of the product is like.
Another focus was to display what the product look like, as the previous site has no images of it.

✨ Results and Impact

The project successfully achieved its goals, enhancing user experience and fortifying the site’s technical foundations. WordPress proved more intuitive for employees, reducing training needs and improving workflow efficiency.

During my time at PaySimple, I also had the opportunity to contribute to several diverse projects such as the development and design of a Help Center using SalesForce.com, assets for campaigns as well as downloadable content. You can see a few below.
